IZU Journal of Education is to publish scientific research in the field of education and to contribute to the educational literature.
Scientific articles in Turkish and English, including critical, evaluation, meta-analysis studies, original ideas and model proposals made with quantitative, qualitative and mixed methods in the field of Education and Educational Research are within the scope of the journal.
Article Submissions
IZU Journal of Education is open for article submission on a continuous basis. Submitted articles should be appropriate to the purpose and scope of the journal. Original manuscripts, which have not been published anywhere else before and are not under evaluation in another journal, and whose content and submission have been approved by each author are accepted for evaluation.
Readership
IZU Journal of Education appeals to all education professionals, especially academics, researchers, teachers and graduate students, who work in the field of educational sciences and want to follow current developments in this field.
Fee Policy
• No fee is charged to the author or his/her institution under any name.
• IZU Journal of Education article submission/process management is carried out free of charge.
• No fee is paid to the author for the published texts.
• All financial and legal copyright transactions of translations are carried out by the translator.
• No financial support is provided to the translator for copyright fees or any other fees.
• The author is deemed to have accepted all financial, legal and scientific responsibility as of the date of sending the translation to IZU Journal of Education.
• All expenses and costs of IZU Journal of Education are covered by Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University.
Copyright
Authors agree to transfer their copyrights to the Journal under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license when the article is accepted for publication.
Originality of Articles
IZU Journal of Education accepts studies that have not been published elsewhere before, provided that they are directly or indirectly related to the field of education. Studies outside the purpose and scope of our journal are not published.
IZU JOURNAL OF EDUCATION PUBLICATION AND WRITING GUIDE
1- Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University Journal of Education (IZUED) is a peer-reviewed journal and is published online twice a year (in June and December) except for special issues.
2- Articles are uploaded to IZU Journal of Education via https://dergipark.org.tr/en/journal/2585/submission/step/manuscript/new The uploading of the articles to the system by the author is accepted as the application for publication of the article. No royalties are paid to the authors for the articles.
3- All legal responsibilities related to the articles published in IZU Journal of Education belong to the authors. Authors must upload the wet signed Copyright Form to the relevant field in the system while submitting their applications.
4- Declaration of Contribution Rate, Statement of Support and Acknowledgment, if any, and Statement of Conflict should be included on the Cover Page.
5- IZU Journal of Education has the right to suggest corrections for the submitted articles, to publish or not to publish the articles.
6- Only articles prepared on the IZU Journal of Education Template will be evaluated.
7- After the main title and before the introduction, articles should include an abstract in Turkish and English, between 150-200 words, including the purpose, scope, method and results of the study, and three keywords. Following the abstracts, there should also be a 600-800 word extended abstract in English for Turkish articles. Extended abstracts are not required for English articles. The main title, abstract and bibliography should be centered, bold and only the first letters of the words should be capitalized; subheadings and introduction should be left justified, bold and only the first letters of the words should be capitalized. The article should be a minimum of 3000 and a maximum of 8000 words, including abstracts, main text and references, excluding footnotes.
8- The images in the articles should be numbered as Figure/Table 1. ... centered with short explanations. The placement in the text can be changed according to the page layout when necessary.
9- When submitting the article, the Main Text, Copyright Transfer Form and Cover Page files should be attached separately; no author information or evocative elements should be included in the Main Text file.
10- Manuscripts should be submitted through the Submit Manuscript system at https://dergipark.org.tr/en/journal/2585/submission/step/manuscript/new. If there is more than one researcher in the articles, they should be added to the “Add Author” section of the second stage of the system. After the article is uploaded to the system, corrections may be requested in line with the reports from the referees. For this reason, authors should open their DergiPark notifications and check them regularly.
11- Articles without Ethics Committee Approval for data collected in 2020 and later will not be published.
12- The similarity rates of the articles accepted to the journal should be maximum 20%. Ithenticate similarity report should be uploaded with the article. If there is no access to the program, please contact the editor.
13- Accepted articles are published as Early View.
REFERENCE STYLE AND FORMAT
IZUED adopts the 7th edition of APA (American Psychological Association) citation style for in-text citation and referencing (you can use programs such as Zotero, Mendeley to minimize problems in citation).

ETHICS COMMITTEE APPROVAL
Our journal requires that the relevant ethics committee decision must be obtained for all studies in all disciplines that require ethics committee permission. In this context, information about the ethics committee approval (name of the committee, date and decision number) should be clearly stated in the text of the article. In case reports, the information that the informed consent form has been obtained should be included in the article.
In line with the regulations implemented by Ulakbim TR Index since 2020, studies that do not have ethics committee permission are not evaluated in our journal.
Studies Requiring Ethics Committee Approval
In our journal, researches that require ethics committee permission include the following studies:
• All research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that involve collecting data from participants through methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, experiments and interview techniques,
• Studies in which humans and animals (including materials or data) are used for experimental or other scientific purposes,
• Clinical trials conducted on humans,
• Scientific research on animals,
• Retrospective studies within the framework of the Personal Data Protection Law.
In order for such studies to be included in the evaluation, the relevant ethics committee permissions must be obtained and these permissions must be clearly stated in the text of the article.
Note: Scientific research on humans and animals must be conducted in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and ARRIVE guidelines and approval must be obtained from the relevant ethics committee. Studies without ethics committee approval are not evaluated in our journal.
Publication Ethics Principles
1. IZU Journal of Education publication processes are based on the unbiased production, development and sharing of knowledge using the scientific method.
2. Peer-reviewed articles are studies that ensure the application of the scientific method and impartiality.
3. In the realization of scientific production, all components of the publication process; publisher, editors, authors, referees and readers must comply with ethical principles.
4. In this context, IZU Journal of Education, which adheres to national and international standards in terms of publication ethics and open access policy, complies with the Press Law, the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works and the Directive on Scientific Research and Publication Ethics of Higher Education Institutions. It also adopts the International Ethical Publishing Principles published by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA).
5. If cases such as manipulation, distortion and fabrication of the data used in the articles are detected, the institution where the author of the article works will be officially notified of this situation and the article will be rejected.
6. Our journal has the right to request output files related to the analysis results from the authors according to the feedback given by the editorial board and/or referees.
7. If the work prepared for publication is derived from a book chapter, unpublished proceedings, or a master's or doctoral thesis, this should be stated on the first page of the work (In studies derived from graduate theses, the highest author contribution rate should belong to the author of the thesis).
Plagiarism Action Plan and Journal Measures
IZU Journal of Education respects intellectual property and aims to protect and promote the original work of its authors. Plagiarized articles are contrary to the standards of quality, research and innovation. Therefore, all authors submitting articles to the journal are expected to adhere to ethical standards and avoid plagiarism in any form. If an author is suspected of plagiarism in a submitted or published manuscript, the Ethics Editor of the journal will first review the manuscript. Subsequently, the manuscript is referred to and reviewed by the Editorial Board. According to the conclusion reached, the Journal will contact the author(s) and request them to send their explanations within two weeks. If no response is received from the author within the specified period, the author's affiliated university is contacted and asked to investigate the allegation.
The journal will take the following serious measures against published manuscripts found to contain plagiarism:
1. Contacting the university to which the author(s) is affiliated to take definitive action against the author(s) concerned.
2. Remove the PDF copy of the published article from the website and disable all links to the full-text article. Adding the phrase Plagiarized Article to the title of the article.
3. Deactivating the author(s) account and rejecting all future submissions by the author(s) for 3 years.
This journal checks for plagiarism in manuscripts submitted for review: Pre-checked manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using iThenticate software. Authors are notified if plagiarism/self-plagiarism is detected. If necessary, editors may check the article for plagiarism at various stages of the review or production process. High similarity rates may result in a manuscript being rejected before or even after acceptance. This rate is expected to be less than 20%.

Protection of Personal Information
All personal data submitted to our journal are protected in accordance with legal regulations and ethical rules.
Author Change
Only the article is processed before acceptance. Authors are required to carefully review the list and order of authors before submitting their manuscript and provide the final author list at the time of original submission.
Financial Support
Authors should clearly disclose any financial support provided by any organization within the scope of their work in the text of the manuscript.
Correction, Retraction, Expression of Concern
Editors may consider publishing a correction if minor errors are identified in the published article that do not affect the findings, interpretations and conclusions. In the case of major errors/violations that invalidate findings and conclusions, editors should consider retracting the article. COPE guidelines regarding correction, withdrawal or expression of concern are taken into account.
Special Issue Publication Policy
Special issues of our journal can be published once a year upon the request of the Editorial Board, in accordance with the TRDizin Criteria determined by TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, not more than 1/3 of the normal period. Articles submitted for inclusion in the special issue are first subjected to a preliminary editorial review. Then they are examined for compliance with the journal's spelling rules and a similarity check is performed to prevent plagiarism. After these stages, they are included in the evaluation process using the double blinded model.
Responsibilities of the Editorial Board of IZU Journal of Education
• All articles submitted to IZU Journal of Education are under the responsibility of the Editorial Board - from the application stage to the publication stage. The Editorial Board recognizes this responsibility and is obliged to ensure that decisions are taken independently in the process of evaluating and publishing the articles, taking into account the public interest without considering personal gain. The relationship between the author(s) and the Editorial Board is based on the principle of independence on the basis of this responsibility. All decisions of the Editorial Board are independent of the author(s) and other individuals and organizations.
• The Editorial Board of IZU Journal of Education strives for the continuous development of the journal, for the articles to be appropriate to the field, to meet the needs of readers and authors, and to improve the quality of the publication.
• IZU Journal of Education Editorial Board defines the “Double Blind Review and Evaluation Process” of the journal and ensures that all processes are carried out accordingly. By keeping referee and author information confidential, it enables the evaluation process to be carried out in an objective, scientific and impartial manner.
• IZU Journal of Education Editorial Board keeps all information about the articles uploaded to the system confidential until the article is published and protects the copyright of the authors of the published articles.
• The Editorial Board of IZU Journal of Education takes precautions against unscientific-ethical behavior, plagiarism, and citation gangsterism during the article and journal publication process. When faced with situations involving ethical violations, they take the necessary actions by adhering to the policies and procedures of the journal.
Ethical Responsibilities of Editors, Deputy Editors and Area Editors
• Editors strive to meet the information needs of referees, authors, researchers and readers, and to act in accordance with the principle of openness in matters requiring clarification regarding the publication process.
• Editors review the submitted manuscripts at the preliminary evaluation stage and assign them to the relevant field editor and review the referee recommendations and forward the referee evaluations to the author(s).
• While making decisions on the submitted articles, the editors take into account the original value of the articles, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, and the purpose and scope of the journal.
• The editors implement the double-blind refereeing and evaluation process policies of the journal, and ensure that each article is evaluated impartially and within the deadline by keeping the identity information of the referees and authors confidential during the evaluation process.
• The editors strive to ensure that the referee pool consists of a wide range of referees and is constantly updated.
• Editors ensure that the journal publication process is carried out in accordance with the publication policies and guidelines, and inform those involved in the process about the publication policies.
• Editors ensure that errors, inconsistencies or misdirections in articles are corrected.
• Editors protect the intellectual property rights of published articles and defend the rights of the journal and the author(s) in case of violation. They also take necessary measures to prevent the content of published articles from violating the intellectual property rights of other publications by checking for originality-similarity.
• Editors emphasize the importance of documenting the explicit consent of the article's participants and request ethics committee approval of the article's participants.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
IZU Journal of Education applies the principle of double-blind refereeing in which the identities of authors and referees are concealed (authors and referees do not see or know each other's names). Referees cannot communicate directly with the authors; article evaluation forms, notes on the text, and correction requests are communicated to the author(s) through the editors and the journal management system.
Referees who will evaluate the articles submitted to the IZU Journal of Education should bear the following ethical responsibilities:
• Referees should only accept to evaluate articles related to their areas of expertise.
• Referees should evaluate in accordance with the principles of impartiality and confidentiality.
• Referees should refuse to evaluate the article and inform the editors if they think that there is a conflict of interest.
• Reviewers should evaluate the manuscript in a constructive manner in accordance with the rules of academic etiquette; they should avoid personal comments containing insults and hostility.
• Referees should evaluate the manuscript they accept for evaluation within the deadline.
Ethical Responsibilities of Authors
The author(s) submitting an article to IZU Journal of Education should bear the following ethical responsibilities:
• Author(s) are expected to submit original manuscripts.
• The author(s) cannot have their work in the application process of more than one journal at the same time. Each submission can be started after the completion of the previous submission. Work published in another journal cannot be submitted.
• Author(s) should fill out the Copyright and Author Agreement together with the submitted article and upload it to the system with wet signature.
• The author(s) must have obtained legal permissions for any copyrighted elements used in their articles, the journal is not responsible for any copyright issues arising from the use of any element.
• The author(s) should cite the sources they have used during the writing of the article completely and correctly in accordance with ethical principles.
• In the event that the author(s) are requested raw data regarding their articles within the framework of the evaluation processes, they should share the expected data and information with the editorial board and the scientific board.
• The author(s) must have the rights to use the data used, have the necessary permissions for research and analysis, and document that they have obtained the consent of the participants on whom they conducted research.
• The author(s) must indicate that they have obtained ethics committee approval for research that requires data collection with quantitative or qualitative methods such as experiments, surveys, scales, interviews, observations, focus group studies, and upload the document showing the ethics committee decision to the system with the application of the article.
• The author(s) should notify the editors of any conflict of interest/conflict of interest related to the submitted manuscript.
• The author(s) should contact the editor to inform, correct, or withdraw an error in a manuscript that is under review, early appearance, or published electronically.
Ethical Violation Notifications
Readers can send an e-mail to izued@izu.edu.tr if they notice a significant error or inaccuracy in an article published in our journal or if they have any complaints about the editorial content (plagiarism, duplicate articles, etc.).
